ATLAS is a 40 ft, 15t displacement, long keel steel pilothouse ketch.
She is a “double ender” hull inspired from the Colin Archer’s norwegian rescue boats designs.
Colin Archer was a naval architect and boat builder in larvik, Norway. He made endless calculations in search of the perfect hull, a shape that would enter in perfect harmony with the sinusoïdal movements of the sea… See this document (in french).
ATLAS was designed in 1990 by the famous dutch naval architect Dick Koopmans and was built by Molenmaker en Mantel, in Sneek, Netherlands.
It is a unique and very tough ship, thought and built with strenght and reliability in mind, a real seagoing vessel to reach the most remote places in the world!
